Teen found hanging

A 13-year-old boy from Chirumhanzu was found hanging on a tree in what the police suspect as a case of murder.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident and said a 17-year-old female suspect has since been arrested in connection with the boy’s death.

“Police in Gweru arrested a teenager, 17, in connection with a case of murder which occurred in Chirumhanzi. She assaulted and strangled her stepson to death after the victim had refused to fetch some water for her. The suspect hung the victim’s body on a tree to cover up for the offence,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
