An 18-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested for allegedly stoning her two-year-old son to death near Maranatha paddock in Chiredzi, Masvingo Province.
The Bizarre incident occurred after Maria Zimvumi was allegedly unsuccessful in finding work as a domestic worker in Chiredzi Town on 10 December 2024.
It took an even more weird twist when she falsely reported to the police that the baby had died after falling from her back.
However, Zimbabwe’s finest sniffed out the truth in a thorough investigation, leading to Zimvumi’s arrest.
In an official statement on X, the police said, “. In an attempt to conceal the crime, the suspect carried the victim’s body on her back and made a report at ZRP Chiredzi claiming that the victim died after falling from her back.”
Investigations by the police revealed that the suspect had fabricated a story to conceal her involvement in the crime which then led to her arrest on 12 December 2024.
