A QUIET evening at Manguba Business Centre turned into bloodshed when a concerned uncle who dared to question his niece’s teenage suitor ended up being killed in cold blood.
Three teenage boys from Bulilima District are now at the centre of a gruesome murder case after unleashing a savage attack on 38-year-old Qiniso Ndlovu. His “crime” was confronting one of the boys for proposing love to his 17-year-old niece.
The accused are Pastor Moyo (18), Mkhuliseni Gumbo (19), and Methembe Dumani (18), all from Mapanyela Village in Madlambuzi.
They appeared recently before Plumtree magistrate Aelene Munamati, facing a charge of murder as defined in Section 47(1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
According to State prosecutor Voster Mawerere, the violence began on 3 June 2025, just after 8:30PM. Qiniso Ndlovu spotted Pastor Moyo chatting up his niece, Anita Tshuma, outside the local shops. Incensed, he approached and demanded answers. A confrontation followed, which went south in the blink of an eye.
In a fit of rage, Qiniso pulled out an okapi knife and stabbed Pastor Moyo once on the back of the head. A deadly chain reaction ensued.
Moyo fled the scene with blood dripping down his neck and went to gather reinforcements. He returned shortly with his close friends, Gumbo and Dumani, as well as Peter Maseko, who is still at large.
What started as a teenage love spat turned into a mob-style revenge attack. Armed to the teeth with knobkerries, golf sticks, bricks, logs, and knives, the four young men ambushed Qiniso.
In scenes described by witnesses as disturbing, the gang beat him to a pulp. Qiniso was stabbed four times on the left thigh, once on the right thigh, and hit repeatedly with blunt objects.
The sheer brutality left bystanders horrified.
Bleeding and unconscious, Qiniso was rushed to Ntoli Hospital, but it was too late. He died just ten minutes after arriving, his body bearing the violent signatures of a frenzied attack.
A post-mortem revealed the cause of death as hypovolemic shock due to multiple stab wounds and severe assault injuries.
The police launched an immediate investigation. They recovered blood-stained clothing from Gumbo and Moyo’s homes. Blood-soaked logs and a broken golf club were found at the scene. Multiple witnesses came forward, confirming the identities of the attackers and describing the horrifying events in detail.
The court heard that the group acted with a common purpose, retaliating with deadly force in what appears to have been a cold and calculated act of vengeance.
The suspects remain in custody while police continue to hunt for the fourth suspect, Peter Maseko.
