WITH skipper Emmanuel Jalai catching his breath after a punishing two-game shift for the Warriors in Morocco, it’s vice-captain Shadreck Nyahwa who’s been handed the baton to lead Dynamos this weekend.

DeMbare are drowning near the bottom of the table in 16th place with just 10 points and without a win in five games.

They face Bikita in the Lowveld tomorrow.

The knives are out and some furious fans have been boycotting their home matches.

But Nyahwa is ready to lead.

“We’ve been working hard to get those three points against Bikita. They’re tough, they’ve even been winning away, so we’re not underestimating them,” he said.

“Scoring has been our biggest issue. But it’s not just on the strikers, everyone has to contribute.

“We need to find the net if we want to win games.

“We’ll give it everything to get that win.”

With Jalai out to recharge his batteries after flying halfway across the continent and playing two games in four days, Nyahwa is stepping into the leadership spotlight.

“Of course, we’ll miss our captain. But everyone in this team is a leader in their own right. We all need to raise our game,” he said.

The pressure is relentless and the stakes are very high.

“Our youngsters are coming along well. They understand what it means to play for this badge now. As seniors, we guide them, but stardom is theirs to chase.”
