A WOMAN from Harare is appealing for about US$35 000 for life-saving surgery for her 19-year-old son, Anotidaishe Emmanuel, who is battling kidney complications.

Ms Teedzai Mlambo said her son requires a kidney transplant and bladder surgery costing a combined US$23 700, with an additional US$11 300 needed for post-operative care and living expenses in India.

Despite his prolonged illness, Anotidaishe sat for his Cambridge A-Level examinations in 2025 and passed Economics, Business and Computer Science after missing most of the academic year due to repeated hospitalisations.

“My son only attended a few days of school in the first term and missed the rest of the year, but he persevered and passed,” said Ms Mlambo.

Anotidaishe is currently on dialysis, a temporary, but critical treatment as he awaits a transplant, with doctors indicating that surgery is now urgently required.

“He is on dialysis, which is not a permanent solution, and doctors have advised that he needs a transplant as soon as possible,” she  said.

Medical documentation from the family outlines the need for urgent surgery, with procedures scheduled to be conducted in India due to limited local options.

“We have an official hospital letter confirming the cost of the kidney transplant and the bladder surgery,” said Ms Mlambo.
