Nhlalwenhle Ncube
A TEENAGE imbiber stabbed a man for allegedly refusing to share beer with him when they were at the same drinking hole.
Onesimo Mapurisa (19) reportedly stabbed Gary Ncube twice for not passing on the booze.
Mapurisa, who is of no fixed abode, was hauled before Bulawayo Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube facing an attempted murder charge.
The court heard that on 21 August at around 1am, Ncube was walking with his friends from Mazoiwana Sports Bar in Magwegwe suburb when they met Mapurisa.
The accused person approached the complainant and asked him why he had refused to share beer with him.
Ncube told the accused to leave him alone but he seemed bitter and started beating him up.
Mapurisa then pulled out an empty beer bottle, smashed it on the ground and advanced toward the complainant and stabbed him twice on his left ear and above, inflicting serious injuries on him.
Having accomplished his mission, Mapurisa allegedly ran away and Ncubea��s friends chased after him.
They apprehended him and swiftly reported the matter to the police, leading to his arrest.
Ncube was ferried to Mpilo hospital for treatment as he sustained deep cuts on his head and ear.
Mapurisa was remanded in custody to 6 September. The courts noted that he had become a regular as he was a week ago convicted and fined $90 for stealing 20 pigeons and five rabbits. .
