A PROPHET was almost killed after his prophecy led to a man losing his wife.
The self-proclaimed prophet, Elliot Mpofu from Ndlamini Farm in Umguza prophesied during a church service that Liberty Tshuma was a womaniser.
The revelation led to Tshuma losing his wife and since then he has been a bitter man.
Things came to a head when Tshuma met Mpofu at Mandalay shops and asked why he said those things at a public forum.
When the prophet tried to argue his way out Tshuma lost his cool.
Tshuma struck Mpofu with an axe once on the head, mouth and neck, then went for Mpofuas knee and other parts of the body.
Mpofu was rushed to hospital by onlookers.
Tshuma was arrested and he appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure last week on Wednesday facing an attempted murder charge.
He was represented by Advocate Sampson Samuel Mlaudzi of Samp Mlaudzi and Partners.
He was granted a $100 bail and remanded out of custody to 6 September for trial.
Until then, the accused must report to Sauerstown police station on Mondays and Fridays.
Nkathazo Dlodlo appeared for the State.
