AN 18-year-old man has been dragged to court on allegations of stealing property worth US$58 180 and $37 817 000.
Ngoni Chimbunde was denied bail when he appeared before Harare magistrate, Dennis Mangosi.
He was remanded to today for bail application.
According to court papers, Chimbunde, who is employed by Reality Builders Association as a roller operator, was contracted together with his accomplices, who are already on remand.
They were tasked with constructing a road from Crowhill Primary to Charlotte Brooke by Clever Hill Investments.
Chimbunde, Rugare Mavengo, 50, and Brighton Chiwara, 27, allegedly connived to steal from the complainant, between October 9 and 17.
They took one excavator bucket and boom, a generator without an engine, a small crasher, two big blowers, a brick moulding plant, gold separator, screen shaker, compressor, three size 16 truck tyres and 20 tonnes of scrap metals. The court heard that the complainant received a tip-off from an informer that scrap metal at the disused crasher mining complex was being stolen.
Upon arrival, the complainant discovered that property was missing and filed a police report, which led to the arrest of the trio.
Nothing was recovered.
