Teenage girls up for assault, robbery

Prosper Dembedza Court Correspondent
Two suspected teenage prostitutes appeared in court on Wednesday after they allegedly assaulted and robbed their client of his mobile cell phone valued at $35.

Letwin Chikore (17) and Jane Chikore were charged with robbery when they appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Arnold Maburo.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and will be back in court next Monday.

Allegations are that on September 21, Arnold Manyonga (42) was at Overspill shops when he met Jane whom he hired for the night at her house.

The court heard that the two proceeded to her house.

On arrival, it is alleged that Jane called Letwin and another male adult James Kaneshiri who was still at large. They told Manyonga that he had made a wrong turn since he was not welcome at their house.

It is the State’s case that the three began assaulting Manyonga before taking away his Nokia x2 cellphone.
