TEENAGE HADEBE is set to stay at FC Cincinnati after the Major League Soccer side moved to activate the extension option on his contract, a club source with direct insight into the talks confirmed on Tuesday.
The Warriors vice captain had been heading toward the end of his current deal on December 31. He joined the Orange and Blue in August last year on a one-and-a- half year contract that included a club option for extra terms.
Cincinnati has now opted to trigger that option. Paperwork on the new deal is expected to be wrapped up soon after a season in which the 29-year-old played a central role in helping the club secure the second best record in MLS.
Hadebe has been immense since his arrival, bringing a strong mix of power, positioning, and surprising recovery pace. That blend stabilised a backline that turned into one of the toughest units in the Eastern Conference.
A source close to the player, who requested anonymity because the discussions are private, said the commitment goes both ways.
“Teenage feels truly at home in Cincinnati. The project here is ambitious, and he sees himself as a fundamental part of its future. He has built a strong connection with the coaches, his teammates, and the fans. This wasn’t a difficult decision; it was the natural next step.”
His no-nonsense clearances and aerial dominance have made him a favourite among supporters, while his presence in both boxes has shaped much of the club’s identity.
“Cincinnati’s intent to build upon its recent success and mount another sustained challenge for silverware signals it’s intended to continue with Hadebe. The official announcement is anticipated in the coming weeks as the club prepares for the 2026 pre-season.”
Hadebe, who recently swapped shirts with Inter Miami star Lionel Messi after a 4-0 defeat, has since pledged to donate the jersey to a local businessman and Scottland FC owner Pedzai Sakupwanya.
