A juvenile was found dead after ingesting rat poison after being accused of stealing US$50.
The 17-year-old girl from Mlotshwa Village in Zhombe died after ingesting rat poison on August 17.
The incident occurred around 5 pm at her home, where she was with her mother.
Her neighbour, Beauty Sinyoro came and accused her of stealing $50.
The girl denied the allegation, but she later downed rat poison.
Despite efforts to save her, she was found unresponsive at the gate with froth coming out of her mouth and nose.
Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer for Midlands Province, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, urged the public to seek help in criminal cases to ensure a thorough and fair process.
“The incident highlights the importance of seeking professional help and investigation in resolving disputes and addressing accusations.
“The community is left to grapple with the tragic loss of a young life, emphasizing the need for support and understanding in times of conflict.”
