Teenager kills mother, sucks her blood

A BINDURA teenager killed his mother and sucked her blood, sending shockwaves around the usually quiet community at Trojan Mine last Wednesday.

Regimond Ruza (19) is believed to have used a kitchen knife to stab his mother, Docus Chiguzhu, (55) to death.

He sliced pieces of her flesh and put them in a pot.

In a fit of rage, Ruza went on to cut himself on his right hand using the same knife.

Ruza was arrested, but died after his admission to Bindura Provincial Hospital for the second time.

Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Milton Mundembe, confirmed the blood-curdling murder, and urged parents to closely monitor the behaviour of their children.

“Police confirm the death of a 55-year-old Trojan woman, who was stabbed by her son on Wednesday,” said Insp Mundembe.

“He was arrested and taken to Bindura Provincial Hospital for treatment, at around 10pm, and was later found unconscious in police cells. He was taken back to hospital, where he was attended to but passed on.

“Circumstances were that the son prepared family lunch and, after eating, he became violent and attacked his mother with a kitchen knife. He was suspected to have taken drugs and neighbours failed to restrain him,” said Insp Mundembe.

Trojan Mine residents described the heinous crime as something that will haunt their community for years. One of the neighbours, Agnes Dzidzi, 44, who tried in vain to restrain Ruza from stabbing his mother, said the two were members of the Johanne Masowe yeChishanu Apostolic sect. Dzidzi said she wasn’t sure abuse of drugs triggered the bloodletting.

“We have been shocked as residents by the killing of a woman, who was innocent and helpful, in this community,” said Dzidzi.

“The two had been to a prayer mountain and Regimond could have been possessed by evil spirits.

“He was raging and so furious when I tried to restrain him from attacking his mother, when she wailed for help.

“Ndakadaidza mamwe madzimai asi mwana akaita simba rekuti takamutadza.”

She said all men were at work at the time of Ruza’s murderous act.

“Regimond went on to suck his mother’s blood, and sliced some pieces of flesh and put them in a pot. He didn’t eat any of the body flesh.

“It astonished us, considering that he is of sober mind. Regimond was never seen drinking alcohol, smoking or abusing drugs, but he was an ardent follower of Johanne Masowe weChishanu, together with his mother.

“This has affected the whole community because it has never happened before.

“We are seeking divine intervention for spiritual healing,” said Agnes. — H Metro.

Machete-wielding naked Florida man tries to steal another man’s clothes

A machete-wielding, berry-picking naked man in Florida was arrested after attempting to rob another man of his clothes, wallet and phone.

Deputies were called by the victim, after he was approached by the nude man who was carrying “a large machete-style knife,” the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The man told cops the suspect was picking berries in the woods, then rushed out of the bush with the machete and demanded he hand over his belongings — including the clothes he was wearing.

The victim began to comply when the suspect “hurled the machete at him along with a handful of palmetto berries.

Either the blade was sharp enough or the victim had a chest of steel because he was uninjured after the handle to the machete bounced off his chest, police said.

The suspect, still naked, fled the scene, took off into the woods, hopped into a car but a police helicopter tracked him to a nearby gas station.

“He is doing push-ups at the entrance to the food store here,” the pilot states during the video.

The footage also shows the man walking in the middle of the street as drivers tried to avoid him/get a good look.

As deputies approached, Wright lay down on the ground next to his car and surrendered without incident.

Brandon Wright was connected to a similar unclothed incident in 2021, when he was arrested for resisting an officer without violence.

He also has prior convictions for kidnapping, cocaine possession, and battery on a law enforcement officer, the sheriff’s office said.

Wright remains behind bars without bond.

Mourner knocks over casket with vehicle in cemetery brawl

An uninvited mourner sparked a brawl at a Richmond cemetery that ended with a vehicle running over gravestones and knocking over a casket, California police reported.

Officers arriving at Rolling Hills Memorial Park on Saturday, August 6, found the driver had also broken a water main that flooded the grave of the funeral director’s grandmother, a Richmond Police Department news release said.

They arrested the driver after he received medical care for being hit by a cane earlier in the altercation, police said.

The fight began about 1:30 p.m. when the 36-year-old man showed up uninvited.

One woman told police she brought a stun gun to the funeral in case of trouble.

After being hit by a cane in the fight, the man jumped in his vehicle and drove around the cemetery, knocking over tombstones and striking another mourner, the publication said.

Charges against the man, who was not named, include assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism of a tomb or memorial, the news release said. — Wires.
