A HARARE teenager says there is no shame in being a young woman in the entertainment industry.
Charlene “Yayi” Marere,18, recently released a single titled Ruvarashe, which encourages young women to be proud of themselves.
She recently joined forces with a local technology company, ZimHost, as a brand ambassador.
Ruvarashe believes this is the beginning of her career.
In an interview, she said she does not want to limit herself to one genre.
“It is very hard to find networks in the country as an artist, so young artists should grab opportunities when they are presented to them.
“I still have a lot to learn in the industry and I am sure that I will achieve what I have always dreamt about.
“I stand as an example to the young girls on how they should conduct themselves in the industry.
“Every chance that I get, I try to communicate to my fans using constructive messages.”
She can also learn from seasoned hands like Mahwindo dishes out free ‘road runner’ meat events management guru, Wanisayi “Mahwindo” Mutandwa.
The multi-tasking influencer, who has established herself as a philanthropist, club manager and female music promoter, will celebrate this year’s Easter holiday in style.
“On Easter Sunday, we are going to cook and serve free road runner chicken to our patrons (at Club Habhana) as a way of thanking them,” Mahwindo said.
“We have customers who have been supporting us for some time and most of them know my vision.
“This treat will coincide with theMaRasta Sundays’ slot.”
She added:
“On Good Friday, we are hosting Takura at our venue.
“Takura is of the finest Zim Hip Hop artists in Zimbabwe who appeals to ladies.
“On Easter Monday, we close it with the Dynamos and Cranborne Bullets after-party, just for the love of soccer.
“Our resident wheel-spinner, DJ Tosh, will be in charge,” she said.
