Telemundo launches new romantic drama

Showbiz Reporter
This month, Telemundo on DStv launches For Love & Justice, a somewhat sinister tale of intrigue and passionate romance that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

Starting on August 10 at 6PM, the weekly dose of drama, intrigue and deceit will feature Gabriel Porras, known for his role as Roberto Acosta in Behind Closed Doors. It will air on weekdays.

The melodrama inspired by Victor Hugo’s classical Les Misérables follows the story of Lucía Durán (Aracely Arámbula), who has just been released from jail having served an 11-year sentence for a crime she didn’t commit.

Lucía lands up in Mexico City where she becomes involved in a love triangle with 33-year-old cop, Daniel Ponce (Erik Hayser) and a terrifying and yet charismatic criminal mastermind called El Diablo (Gabriel Porras). Lucía must now make a choice, a decision that will ultimately alter the course of her life forever.

Although Daniel is not one for having a long lasting relationship, Lucía still chooses him over El Diablo, only to discover he has betrayed her by offering himself to another. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and blood — in this instance — is not thicker than water. An enraged Lucía is determined to destroy the object of Daniel’s affection and mend her broken heart through pure, unadulterated vengeance.

The plot continues to thicken when successful lawyer Cesar Mondragon is murdered under very suspicious circumstances and the only one who seems to know what happened is Liliana (Lucía’s sister), a beautiful woman with her own share of struggles and who only desires one thing — to marry the man she loves.

Meanwhile, popular entertainment channel, Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161), is now available on high definition (HD).

“Whether you watch Idols, Our Perfect Wedding, Zabalaza, Date My Family, or any other of the channel’s top programmes, you can now view your favourite Mzansi Magic shows in the highest broadcast quality.

“All of our premiere shows are shot in the HD format and we’re pleased to be able to now offer a full HD channel,” said director of M-Net Local Interest channels Nkateko Mabaso.

“We know that our TV audiences increasingly appreciate and access top quality programming, so this development will specifically add value to their overall viewing experience. The channel also remains available in standard definition.”

Launched in 2010 to tell local stories and give a platform to home-grown talent, Mzansi Magic has grown rapidly. The channel generates South Africa content across a diverse array of genres: drama (Isibaya and Zabalaza), reality (Utatakho), original movies, and various music spectaculars.

Last week, the channel which turned five, in addition to its HD evolution, launched a brand new prime-time drama, It’s Complicated. Starring Atandwa Kani, Siyabonga Radebe and Thishiwe Ziqubu, the drama airs at 7.30PM weekly.

At the end of this month, a telenovela, The Road, will make its debut on Mzansi Magic.
