TELONE FC recovered from their first Central Soccer League defeat of the season to draw 2-2 away to pacesetters ZPC Munyati.

TelOne, who are coached by former national team winger, Joel Luphahla, went into the weekend game smarting from a surprise 0-1 home defeat to Vumbachikwe, while ZPC Munyati drew 0-0 against Tongogara.

ZPC Munyati took their points’ tally to 18 from 11 games following their 2-2 draw with TelOne.

The electricity generators, who have played a game more than the rest of the teams, enjoy a one point lead over former Premiership sides Whawha and Tongogara, and FC Platinum Under-19.

Luphahla’s TelOne are aiming for a top-four finish and are presently in fifth place with 15 points from 10 games.

“We are on course in terms of realising our target, which is a top four finish, and then we go for the title next season. My players’ confidence levels are up with each passing game and after that loss to Vumbachikwe, I think they showed great mental strength to hold the log leaders. We will keep working hard,” said Luphahla.

The CSL is proving to be competitive despite just 12 teams competing for the promotional ticket.

Two points separate log leaders ZPC Munyati with 18 points and seventh-placed Vumbachikwe.

ZPC Munyati, Whawha, Tongogara, FC Platinum Under-19, TelOne, Sheasham and Vumbachikwe are all in with a shot at the title.

MSU, who missed two weekends of action because of their involvement in the Confederation of University and College Sports Associations (Cucsa) Games that ended in Gaborone, Botswana,                                                                    on Saturday, have a chance of climbing up the ladder should they win their outstanding two matches.

MSU are ninth with 11 points from eight matches and take on Lasaffre at Mkoba Stadium tomorrow, as they play catch up.

Their other outstanding fixture is against FC Platinum in Zvishavane.
