TelOne Centre for Learning (TCFL), an affiliate of the Southern African Telecommunications Association (SATA) in collaboration with the Coleago Consulting (UK) and the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), will today host a two-day symposium on Infrastructure Sharing in the Telecommunications Industry at Wild Geese Lodge, Harare.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Engineer Sam Kundishora, will be the guest of honour while telecommunication expert Mr Chris Buist will be the facilitator.
Mr Buist, a director at Coleago Consulting Limited, has over 30 years international senior management experience in the telecommunications and media sectors.
He has worked for a number of clients in more than 20 countries including network operators, equipment vendors and media companies.
His main areas of expertise include: business/technology strategic planning, product/service development and operations, and network performance improvement — particularly through managed services (MS) and network sharing.
The symposium will be attended by telecommunications operators, regulators and vendors in the Southern African region.
According to the organisers, the operators and stakeholders are expected to share views on matters of shared interest as the course is designed for managers who are, or may be, involved in network sharing negotiations.
These include senior managers from the technical, financial or regulatory departments at the chief executive level or below.
The symposium is expected to enable participants to raise their overall level of knowledge and understanding in network sharing, address any particular weaknesses they might have and increase their confidence in negotiating successful deals.
“This workshop will also support/enhance the current Government process of establishing the framework for infrastructure sharing.
“TCFL as a centre for excellence strives to facilitate dialogue on current issues of interest in the ICT sector,” said the organisers.
TelOne Centre for Learning offers ICT training to Zimbabwe, the SADC region and beyond; diploma courses in Computer Science, Information Technology and Electrical Power Engineering as well as a degree programme in Telecommunications.
