FORMER Makonde district administrator Mr Webster Tembo has been confirmed substantive Kariba municipality town clerk, ending months of uncertainty.Mr Tembo recently assumed full duties as town clerk after operating from the boardroom as chamber secretary. Mr Richard Kamhoti had also been appointed town clerk by the previous council against the Local Government Board recommendations.
The appointment ends months of boardroom manoeuvres aimed at asserting authority with Mr Kamhoti having had the strength of incumbency while Mr Tembo faced a hostile reception which saw him being forced to operate from the boardroom where he was given council minutes to study and read the newspaper.
Kariba district administrator Mr Amigo Mhlanga confirmed the development saying it would allow the programmes of the municipality to go smoothly and with it the development of the town. “Mr Tembo is now the substantive town clerk in line with the interpretation of the law.
He resumed his duties recently and as far as we are concerned that chapter is closed and we expect to see things starting to move in the town,” he said.
