Ten convicted criminals jailed for murder, robbery and theft across Zimbabwe

TEN criminals have been jailed countrywide after the courts convicted them for murder, robberies and thefts.

The 10 received sentences of between five and 20 years. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the cases in a statement.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of accused persons who were recently convicted and sentenced for armed robbery, murder, unlawful entry into premises and theft cases for the period ending September 16, 2025,” he said.

He said Kundiso Mlambo (22), Noel Gandazha (32), and Takudzwa Mazhambe (29) were convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to five years in prison each on September 6, 2025, at the Harare Magistrate’s Court.

The trio attacked a complainant before stealing a bag containing clothes and a cellphone on July 3, 2025.

Another criminal, John Chagwiza (36), was convicted of multiple counts of unlawful entry into premises and theft. Chagwiza would break into their victims’ houses and steal property.

He was jailed for 16 years on September 6, 2025 at the Harare Magistrate’s Court.

Allan Moyo (35) was convicted of car theft and impersonating a police officer. He was sent to prison for 20 years on September 6, 2025, at the Harare Magistrate’s Court.

Moyo had impersonated a police officer and stole four cars before selling them to unsuspecting buyers in 2024.

Police said Garikai Zhelende (30) was convicted of armed robbery, unlawful entry into premises and theft. He was sentenced to eight years in prison at the Harare Magistrate Court on September 8, 2025.

Zhelende was in the habit of targeting victims who used secluded paths and robbed them of cash, clothes and other valuables.

He also broke into a church and a school, where he stole kitchen utensils, drums and roofing sheets.

Enock Mawarire (39) and Khulekani Sibanda (34) appeared before the Harare Magistrate Court on charges of carjacking emanating from illegally dispossessing their victim of a Nissan Caravan vehicle in Belvedere, Harare on September 13, 2025.

The duo was convicted and sentenced to 12 years each.

In another case, on September 16, 2025, Tapiwa Malasha (32) and Francis Zuze (41) appeared before the Harare Magistrate Court on charges of car theft. They stole a Toyota Hiace at Zvipoto, Unit N Shops in Chitungwiza on September 14, 2025.

They were convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison.

Comm Nyathi said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds the public for supplying information that led to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the accused persons.
