MUTARE correctional services outfit, Tenax garnered maximum points after posting a crucial and unexpected 1-0 away win over title chasing Prime Rangers last Saturday as they reaffirmed their prospects of landing the league championship.

Tenax are on sixth position with 28 points from 15 matches.
Prison side, Tenax’s skipper, Lee ‘Piro Piro’ Musiteyi is fancying his side’s chances of Premiership promotion.
“It is not a secret that we might not be financially strong like some of our competitors in the league, but we are confident of getting good results as we go, just like we did away at Prime Rangers.

“The good thing is that we have unity of purpose in our team. From the leadership, the technical department and the players, we have a common vision, therefore we strongly believe that the spirit of togetherness will take us places.
“I think we also have a chance of gaining Premiership promotion. We just need to be focused in the second half of the season. We are playing well as a team and we hope we will remain within shouting distance of the race for the title,’’ he said.

Though inconsistent at times, Tenax are relatively stable in all departments and their rearguard with Munyaradzi Sako, Misheck Shonga, Kudzayi Musindo and goalkeeper Phillip Makume enjoying fine form.

Meanwhile, former Premiership side Masvingo United continued their fine run after beating Mutoko Traders 3-1 in an Eastern Region Division One Football League match played at Mucheke last Saturday.

Yuna Yuna, as they are affectionately known by their legion of fans in the country’s oldest city, are occupying third position on the log standings with 31 points from 16 matches, just three points adrift of log leaders Hartley Academy.

High-flying Hartley Academy dropped two points after they were held to a one-all stalemate by ZRP Masvingo at Mucheke last Sunday.

Mutare City Rovers were the biggest winners last weekend after demolishing Ruwa Gunners 6-0 at Sakubva to remain within the race for the title with 29 points.
