TERRY THE HERO AS SCOTTS SQUEEZE KEY WIN

Scottland……………………………………..(1) 2

Highlanders…………………………………..(1) 1

THERE was a time when Scottland’s character was starting to be questioned as the expensively-assembled side appeared to wilt under expectations and the pressure that comes with the favourites tag.

Critics claimed they were not a team but just a collection of individuals who were not playing for the badge but for their own personal interests.

It was difficult to argue otherwise as the Scotts lost matches they were expected to win and some big names were not firing as expected.

But, the beauty about the championship race is that it’s a long one and a club can find its soul again. This appears to be the case at Scottland who, in two big games, have shown tremendous character to bounce back from seeing the opponents take the lead and then go on to win the matches.

Both matches, against Ngezi Platinum and Highlanders, were won by identical 2-1 scorelines.

The Scotts didn’t have Khama Billiat yesterday but they played as a team and, just a day after they were awarded three points for their abandoned match against Chicken Inn, they added another three points at Rufaro yesterday.

They have picked NINE points in a space of just eight days and are now firmly in the championship race.

Newboy Terrence Dzvukamanja was the hero yesterday with his brace.

This was his third game since joining the club from South Africa’s SuperSport United.

Highlanders opened the scoring through the lively Mafious Chihweta.

However, Dzvukamanja levelled the scores with a powerful header in the first half and struck the winning goal in the second period.

Bosso skipper, Andrew Mbeba was stretchered off the field in the 65th minute.

Referee Lawrence Zimondi awarded the visitors a penalty but Malvin Sibanda stepped out and missed from the spot.

Scottland are now on 37 points sitting just six points behind leaders Simba Bhora who are leading the championship race.

It was an end-to-end affair as both sides looked lively in their quest for maximum points.
