ZIMBABWE international soccer striker, Terrence Dzvukamanja, is dreaming of inspiring Scottland to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title this season and a fruitful CAF Champions League campaign next year.

Dzvukamanja joined Scottland from the now defunct South African Premier Soccer League side, SuperSport United, whose franchise has been taken up by Bloemfontein outfit, Siwelele, this week and was officially unveiled on Wednesday.

He was part of the Scotts training session and is now set to feature during Sunday’s eagerly-awaited derby against CAPS United at Rufaro.

The 31-year-old striker, who at times plays on the wings, says he is bringing professionalism and experience to Scottland, which would be useful in their bid for an historic Premiership title.

Dzvukamanja joins a Scottland side currently averaging less than a goal a game after 18 matches and will be under pressure to perform instantly as his acquisition is specifically to fix the goal drought.

“I’m thrilled to be here at Scottland FC, ready to embrace the challenge and score goals to help the team advance. I am here to give it all,” said Dzvukamanja on the club’s official handle.

The former Ngezi Platinum striker, who spent the past six years in South Africa at Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, said he was drawn to return home by Scottland’s vision.

“My goal is to help the club achieve its goals and that is to score goals and assist the club. I am here also to bring professionalism both on and off the pitch.”

At 31, time is running out for Dzvukamanja, and he wants to maximise the opportunity presented at Scottland.

“As a player, the goal is to win trophies and other individual medals like Player of the Month and be among the Soccer Star of the Year finalists. We need to win the league and then represent the country in Africa.

“I am here to give it my all and I would want to play each and every game and win every game. The message I have for the fans is for them to have patience in the team, keep supporting and we will reward them in the end.”

Having featured and scored in the big Soweto Derby, Dzvukamanja will find company in Khama Billiat who had one of the most successful South Africa stints by a Zimbabwean footballer and also featured in Mzansi’s epic clashes while turning out for Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

In the likely event that they get selected for Sunday’s derby against CAPS United, Dzvukamanja and Billiat will be the best placed to deal with the pressure that might come from the terraces.

Scottland have failed to win in their last three matches, dropping points against Greenfuel (2-2), TelOne (0-1) and Triangle (0-0).

Firing blanks in the last two matches is probably one of the reasons Dzvukamanja’s papers were processed quicker than other players, who might also join Scottland during the mid-season window that is open for the whole of July.

While the current leading scorers in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League—Washington Navaya and Billy Veremu—have 10 goals each, Tymon Machope is the leading scorer at Scottland with four goals.
