CHICKEN Inn forward Michael Charamba is not related to famous gospel musician Pastor Charles Charamba.

But the latter’s influence has had a huge impact in the life of the footballer who has now been ordained a Pastor in the Tabernacle of Grace and Fire Ministries Church in Amaveni, Kwekwe.

It is because of faith that Charamba continued to play football even when medical experts had ruled him out after he sustained a nasty knee injury in 2019 when he was still at Ngezi Platinum Stars.

And his spirituality has taken him through a Theological College, which has now transformed him into a pastor.

“I am not related to Baba naMai Charamba. However, they are respected spiritual leaders and l find inspiration in their dedication and faith.

“My pursuing theology stemmed from my desire to understand spiritual truths, serve others and make a positive impact in the community as it is a reminder of our calling to live faithfully.

“I find fulfilment in exploring faith and guiding others in their spiritual journeys on and off the pitch.

“God does not necessarily want us to abandon our gifts because of our calling. For example, looking at Paul in the Bible he was both a tent maker and an Apostle of God. This shows that I can pursue professional soccer while still fulfilling God’s purpose for my life. It’s about finding balance.”

Charamba, who has built a reputation for brinding together his Chicken Inn teammates through prayer, said his miraculous healing, after that 2019 injury setback, made him the devoted Christian that he is today.

“I never thought I would kick a ball in my life again after that injury in 2019. It was so bad and I would feel it right in my soul that there were real chances that it was all over,” said Charamba.

“But I kept the faith and kept on praying, thanks to my church and its leaders who carried me along in prayer.

“Since then, I never looked back and all I wanted was to become a pastor so that I could serve God. I am happy I have managed to be ordained. Many thanks to my mother in Christ Prophetess Regiletter Chiwoniwoni.”

With Chicken Inn currently fighting to keep their heads above water, Charamba said:

“I believe we are going to survive relegation, we just have to take each game as it comes and fight to collect the points.”
