TERTIARY students under the banner of the Zimbabwe Congress of Students Union (ZICOSU) have expressed a desire to engage President Mnangagwa in person at his renowned Precabe Farm in Kwekwe, to gain firsthand insight into his leadership philosophy and innovations in modern agriculture.

The request was made during a one-day strategic seminar held at Bulawayo Polytechnic, jointly organised by ZICOSU and the ZANU-PF Youth League.

The seminar aimed to equip hospitality students with leadership skills aligned with the national Vision 2030 agenda.

The event, which drew participation from across the tertiary education sector, was held under the theme: “Sustainable Tourism: Equipping Hospitality Students for Leadership in a Vision 2030 Economy.”

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Tongai Mnangagwa, officiated at the seminar, which underscored the pivotal role of sustainable tourism in national economic development.

In a private briefing on the sidelines of the event, ZICOSU National President, Cde Kudzai Murombedzi, made a formal plea to Deputy Minister Mnangagwa to facilitate a visit to the President’s model farm.

“As students, we desire to have a dialogue with President Mnangagwa at his unique farm to learn about new high technology in agriculture.

“We can only learn more about his leadership by sitting down with him at his farm,” said Cde Murombedzi.

Responding to the request, Deputy Minister Mnangagwa pledged to facilitate the visit, recognising the value of such engagement between national leadership and the country’s future professionals.

“I heard that 120 students want to visit President Mnangagwa at his Precabe Farm in Kwekwe.

“Your leadership insisted to have a dialogue with the President, so you can only learn from someone with experience and learn more. So I will facilitate that.

“I am going to facilitate to meet with President at his farm,” said Deputy Minister Mnangagwa.

The planned engagement, once realised, is expected to broaden students’ appreciation of innovation, leadership, and agricultural transformation as envisioned under Vision 2030.

Several head of States have paid visits to the farm.
