FAST rising poet Thaluso Da Poet alongside upcoming artistes Methembe Moyo and Nomalanga Choice Moyo put out stellar acts on Saturday as they honoured the late reverred arts guru Desire “Moyoxide” Moyo at a double poetry album launch.
Thaluso Da Poet launched his third album titled Thula Sizwe featuring Mswane we Mbabala while the trio also released posthumously Moyoxide’s album IDabane.
The launch gave an opportunity to emerging talent to showcase their art to a wider audience starting off with stand up comedian The Baptist.
Anele Nkundlandle, a poet who looks up to Thaluso Da Poet also showed that he has in it to thrive in the future before Ihawu Lesizwe who put out a mouth watering display. As both albums are accompanied by background tracks, the imbube outfit brought their A game as background artistes.
Top on the cherry was the display by Thaluso Da Poet and the Oxide Kids as their lyrically poetry couldn’t match their ages.
Laughter and sorrow was filled in their artistic work and it showed that their inspiration came from the outspoken critic Moyoxide.
For the Oxide Kids, it proved how attached there are to the creative industry as Methembe a Form 6 student at Selonga High School in Gwanda and Nomalanga a Form 4 student at Zezani High School in Beitbridge were able to get the crowd abuzz, although they had just closed schools barely 48 hours before their set.
Thaluso Da Poet said after the launch, he can now have a peaceful sleep knowing he has done justice to Moyoxide’s legacy.
“It was so emotional and at the same time l felt so relieved as l was feeling like l was carrying something heavy. I can safely say Moyoxide can rest in peace now, everything is In safe hands.
“The Oxide Kids were practicing while they were at school. There are very intelligent and stars in the making. There are the gems looking at their sync with the Imbube group. Having also Anele was great as l believe if you hear someone saying they are inspired by your works it really shows that there is an impact that we are making in the arts,” said Thaluso Da Poet.
He said he is grateful for the support he received before and aftermath the show.
“The show was mostly attended by the matured and elderly people. It made me realise the target audience that l should continue with the poems that address issues that affects our society negatively and praise the good that is happening in our society. Our people love to hear the stories about us.
“The inspiration of using Chief Dakamela as the Guest is to continue to bring variety people to our launch. First Album Umusa KaThixo released 2023 was graced by a politician Mayor Solomon Mguni and the second one by Religious Leader Apostle T. Nyathi from Revival Jesus Christ Ministries. Then this time i opted for a traditional leader and the perfect and relevant candidate was Chief Dakamela. Also having Albert Nyathi was a greatest honour,” said Thaluso Da Poet.
