Thamsanqa Moyo launches debut album tomorrow

music granddad Oliver Mtukudzi and now she is set launch her own debut album.
Titled “Party Time, Celebrate Yo Lyf,” the album comprises two tracks, one pop and another afro-centric. The album will be launched tomorrow at Westridge High School.

The event will coincide with the teenager’s inauguration as the new Childline ambassador.
In an interview with the youthful upcoming artiste, Thamsanqa said her music appeals mostly to the youths.
“Just like the title of the album the tracks are about celebrating life. To me life is an everyday party which everyone has to be grateful for because some did not have the opportunity to be alive today. Music

draws people together and it is the easiest way of getting a message across to my peers. My inspiration is to become a role model to the youths,” she said.
Thamsanqa, who started singing at the age of seven while she was in Grade Two at Lusitania Primary School, said it needs commitment to balance school, work and music.

Currently in Form One at Westridge High School, Thamsanqa said school comes first.
“School helps one manage his or her resources. I put school first and work very hard. Music is my second commitment and I dream of becoming a woman activist after completing school,” she said.
Thamsanqa has performed in New York and also at big events like the Harare International Festival of the Arts and the National Arts Merit Awards.

She also revealed that her parents have been supportive since she ventured into music.
