ORGANISERS of the just-ended 12th Chipaz Bhora Tournament were humbled by the huge turnout at DZ Stadium on Saturday.
The event was a celebration of social soccer and music where Zim dancehall artists dominated.
After the football action, music fans started trickling in as early as sunset, with long queues forming outside the venue.
Event coordinator, Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, was over the moon after the concept, which aims at raising money for charity, lived up to expectations.
“It’s pleasing to note that I have a good relationship with artists looking at the number of artists who supported the event.
“We are happy with the fans’ support and we will surely improve when it comes to the next event.
“I was also humbled by the turnout of fans who came to support their own.”
Chipaz said Dzivaresekwa was a big special ghetto where his shows have never flopped.
“Each time that we perform there, we are guaranteed a huge fan base.
“This time around the event was a bit special in that it coincided with Freeman’s homecoming party.
“Freeman built his fan base in the ghetto and everything has gone according to plan for him.
“It was really a worthy homecoming party for him and other Zim dancehall chanters,” he said.
Meanwhile, the match between Zim dancehall and Sungura musicians ended in a 1-1 draw.
Vokal scored for Sungura FC while Zim Dancehall FC responded through Muponda Sugar’s goal.
