Dozens of celebs strolled the yellow carpet. While some impressed, others made the crowd laugh.
Presenter Zizo Beda rocked a Rubicon gown to perfection.
Muso Donald was the complete opposite in a strange Palse Homme jacket with big buttons. His appearance later on the Amstel Green Room helped him make peace with the fashion police.
Kelly Khumalo, who took the best female artiste award, wore a rather racy red Reggie Molamu dress. Also in the “racy” department was host of the evening Boity Thulo in a Scalo Medupe dress, which covered her tidbits surprisingly well.
Camagwini wore a Michael Jackson-inspired outfit by designer Malusi.
Probably the most literally illuminating outfit of the evening was singer Bucie who wore what could only be described as a disco ball.
Professor, who was fined for wearing a police uniform at the Metros a few months ago, wore a fireman uniform this time around.
Maybe they’ll just hose him down. He did, however, change to receive his best kwaito award. Not to be forgotten were Candy of “Tsa Mandebele” fame and Zahara, who almost tripped over their long gowns.
Candy enlisted the help of an usher as she walked to her seat. The Samas brought a lot of hype to a resort that has been the centre of attention with the Gupta saga.
Though the Superbowl, where the event was held was not sold out, there were tonnes of excitement.
Grown men in suits weren’t shy to get up and dance, even helping with the prediction of the winners to some of the hosts.
Meanwhile, Dino Bravo scored some brownie points with his old school hits during the 15-minute wait before the show kicked off.
Award winner Toya DeLazy did a rather lukewarm duo with Reason. Their Suzanne Heyns outfits were another source of mockery from the crowd as DeLazy seemed to be struggling to dance in the shoes she had on.
Her cringe-worthy note at the end of her song couldn’t be ignored either.
The collaboration between Desmond and the Tutus, Kabelo and Big Nuz was a winning formula, with diehard fans screaming with excitement.
Donald was short of getting a full standing ovation on his breathtaking performance.
