Chris’ musical partner Chris Smith gave an emotional eulogy during the service.
He said: “It’s been like a struggle for me every day . I know Chris is in heaven. He was a true friend. I just wanna say I love you man and I’m gonna miss you dearly.
“My life it ain’t ever gonna be the same, but I just hope our legacy for hip-hop is never forgotten.
“ I’m gonna do my part to make sure Chris’ legacy will live on.”
The day before the service, friends and family paid their respects at a funeral home in Atlanta, where the body of the 34-year-old musician — who was known in the band as Daddy Mac — was displayed in an open casket.
According to website TMZ, mourners were greeted with an instrumental version of Kris Kross’ biggest hit “Jump” and a sign attached to the inside of the coffin lid bore the words “Cause that’s what I was born to do . . .,” lyrics from the group’s single “Warm It Up’”
The casket was surrounded by photos of Kris Kross in their prime.
