NOT all that glitters is gold as three Zimbabwean players are learning it the hard way that the grass might actually not be greener on the other side.
After making so-called big money moves to Zambian side Buildcon, the trio of Nqobizitha Masuku, Partson Jaure and Devon Chafa want out.
A year hasna��t lapsed since the three dumped local teams lured by the prospect of cashing on huge signing on fees but they now want to cut ties with Buildcon.
George Deda a�� who manages Masuku and Jaurea��s affairs a�� says his hands are tied if the players no longer want to play for the Zambian side.
a�?The process to terminate their contracts with Buildcon has not been completed but wea��ll have a clearer picture in the next few days. However, players cannot be forced to stay at a club if they are no longer happy,a�? said Deda.
If the players do force their way out of Buildcon they will still be caught between a rock and a hard place as far as their careers are concerned.
Coming back home is easier said than done.
The Premier Soccer League transfer window period a�� the stipulated timeframe when players can join local clubs a�� closed on 31 July.
Jaure was a Ngezi Platinum player before moving up north while Masuku earned his keep at FC Platinum. Chafa played for Caps United before joining Buildcon.
The three have been struggling for game time in Zambia since the departure of Italian coach Arena Guglielmo who signed them at the beginning of the year.
a�?Not all clubs are as professional as they purport to be so players will always find out later that they made a mistake when the deal has already been signed. It becomes even more difficult when dealing with an unprofessional club when one is a foreigner,a�? said Footballers Union of Zimbabwe vice-president Herbert Dick.
Dick played in Poland for Legia Warsaw. Last year the duo of Elisha Muroiwa and Wisdom Mutasa left Singida United of Tanzania in a huff after complaining of unprofessional treatment at the hands of club officials. .
