THE Fashion Big Five is the backbone of fashion for beginners. It is the basic must have knowledge for someone who would like to develop their fashion sense and upgrade their looks.
Personal development is a very important tool for success and therefore fashion is a tool kit which one needs to be aware of in this competitive world.
Indulge and learn about these fashion tips for a better you and a better life.
DEVELOP GOOD PERSONAL HYGIENE
Fashion is not all about clothing, it is skin deep. Developing good personal hygiene is the first step in fashion. A nice expensive outfit on a sweaty and smelly body kills the whole look. Keep your hair, nails and body clean. Practice good hygiene by wearing clean fresh clothes, image is everything.
KNOW YOUR BODY TYPE
Know your body type to ensure that you wear clothes that sit and hang well on your body. Forget about buying that dress you saw on the internet or that pair of leather pants you saw your friend wearing because it looked good on them. There are five basic body shapes for both men and women from the triangular shape, circular shape, rectangular shape, inverted triangle shape to the hourglass shape for women or square shape for men.
Not all trendy or fashionista items will suit all body types. Find out your body type from a professional stylist, reputable fashion designer or a qualified modern tailor.
LEARN HOW TO MIX AND MATCH COLOURS
It is of no use to wear the right clothing for your body type if the colours of the clothing are not well coordinated. To avoid colour clashing, start a one colour look from head to toe, for example, an all-white look, an all-black, all-blue or any colour of your choice.
Second tip is to go for the classic black and white colour combination, you can never go wrong with this classic colour matching. Thirdly, match any colour with either black or white as they match well with any colour.
White or black with any colour would be a simple yet powerful colour combo. Avoid colour blocking or colour blending at this stage until you have mastered the art of mix and match of colours.
HAVE THE BASICS IN YOUR WARDROBE
Trends come and go but the basics will be a staple to give structure to your wardrobe. Have basic things in your wardrobe as you develop and upgrade yourself. A button down shirt or blouse, a classic blazer, a round-neck, a pair of straight black or blue jeans, a pair of formal trousers, the little black dress.
A few of these in neutral colours and not excluding black and white are a wardrobe back bone , they are classics that do not go out of style. They can be styled with any trends of the season but have the basics first before you’ve built your wardrobe.
LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS
Do not break your bank account in the name of fashion, live within your means. Looking good is not all about wearing the most expensive, it is about wearing something that suits you well: right colour, right size and feeling good about it. Buy and wear what you can afford and look good.
