Reflections
The world is changing very fast and a new order in imminent.
The Global South is rich in minerals and other natural resources.
But what is critical is the role the Global South can play in the confrontation between the West and the East in the formation of a new world order.
In the matrix of the new world order, the Global South should manoeuvre with care, with astuteness and deliberate policies that favour its citizenry outside pressure from its erstwhile former colonisers in the west.
Three countries stand as distant competing poles in the new order and those are Russia, China and the United States. The US has backing from the European Union, which is loosely referred to as the West. China and Russia are stand alone, powers that distinctly pause as the eastern Europe and Asia.
In the recent past the Global South has benefited more from Russia and China, the two major powers whose footprints are growing by each day, because of their non-cohesive, non-combative and non-confrontational approach to Africa and other developing countries when it comes to projects, internal politics and social issues.
The Global South should take advantage of mantra of Russia and China, who have no colonial hangover and who, in the matrix of global governance, have not used sanctions to tow developing countries into line.
Russia and China come as the best options to do business with and the Global South should position itself in support of these two in order to unlock real value.
The former colonial masters, as presented by the West and their ally the USA, use force on the countries in the Global South instead of coming up with win-win developmental projects.
Gone are the days when aid and business deals were decided through colonial hangover and thirsty for hegemony on natural resources. There must be fair deals. The Global South should choose which country gives the best deals for the benefit of its populace, not what the West dictates and thinks is the best way.
The arbitrary use and abuse of sanctions by the West and its allies must stop, and should have no place in the new world order.
The new world order must be premised on fair play, on independence and sovereignty and respect of nations, small or big. The future of the new world order must be outside the clutches of regime change antics of Western countries. Countries in the Global South should run their elections outside the regime change projects of the West.
The Global South must understand that it has power to influence the future of the world and that the future lies in the support of Russia and China. That future lies in unpacking value from Russia and China, technological developments, expertise and human capital development.
So far, Russia and China have shown and proved their capacity to work with the Global South without putting pressure on them through sanctions and other unfair means.
Zimbabwe and many countries in the Global South have been victims of unwarranted sanctions and regime change antics, as the West tries to install puppet governments that give the US and its allies express access to the vast untapped natural resources. This has no place in the new world order.
The new world order must be premised in respect of nations, small or big. It must be premised in promotion of a world where countries deserve the right to support Russia because Russia offers the best deals.
Trying to push every country against Russia because of its tiff with Ukraine is extremely wrong. The latest manoeuvres by the US and its allies to portray Russia as rogue state and try and turn every Jack and Jill in the world against it, is extremely wrong. Let countries choose.
Those who agree with Russia must stand by it. A world where a few want to dictate what happens the world is over and is not our good future. A unipolar world, represented by Russia is the future.
Russia is without doubt, growing to be a leader in the unipolar world and the Global South should be ready to work with it, against a negative perception that US and its allies are trying to push. US and EU countries do not want the world to see Moscow as taking a leading role in the fight against neo-colonial practices of the West.
But that Moscow is taking that leading role very fast is fact not fiction.
The Global South must know how much technological capital and expertise it has and how every country can benefit from Russia is vast experience.
We must, therefore, admit that Russia’s influence in the world is growing faster than the propaganda against it is growing. The propaganda against Russia is cheap.
The good Russia has shown and done to the world outweighs the propaganda the West and its ally, the US, is trying to give the world.
A unipolar world is safe for everyone because it has checkmate systems. The US cannot tell everyone that Russia is a rogue state. The reverse is true when it comes to the handling of politics in the Global South. Millions if not billions of people have suffered under US sanctions in the Global South.
Everyone who has not towed the US line of thought has been declared an enemy and has quickly been slapped with sanctions. Very, very, very unfair!
We cannot obliterate Russia from the earth because we need that country that can challenge the US and its allies and balance world power to give the world a semblance of peace and fairness.
Asia, Africa and Latin America should openly increase their co-operation with Russia and run away from the operating in a world where sanctions are used as an albatross around their necks unless they support the US and its allies. There are more benefits for working with Russia than with the West.
A stronger Russia is good for the Global South. The Global South needs a country that checkmates the West and its allies. A new world order needs balance of power.
