CHANTER Jah Master feels he has come of age after launching his debut EP in his hometown, Chitungwiza, on Friday night at an event which was marred by some sporadic explosions of chaos.
Hundreds of fans converged for the event, which was free of charge.
Jah Master feels he now has a decent following.
“It was a cold night and they came in their numbers to witness my first-ever EP launch at Zengeza Ground B,” said Jah Master.
“This meant a lot to me and I promise I will not let all of them down.
“I was anticipating a full house but some of the artists cancelled at the last minute after other commitments but still we had a good show.”
Despite a few technical glitches in the power and public address system, Jah Master feels he has made his community proud.
The chanter has also released accompanying visuals for his song Bhawa.
Jah Master’s new project, titled Composition, carries five songs, including title track Composition, Bhawa, Vakasiyana Nesu, Chiedza and Nhandare.
The songs were produced by DJ Levels, Dj Inno, T-MAN Mt Zion and Bleq.
Meanwhile, some rowdy youths ran amok and destroyed the Public Address system while others stole some of its components.
Jah Master was also questioned by police who wanted to know why he opted to extend the time granted to him to host the event which attracted hundreds of fans.
Jah Master was back in the neighbourhood which used to be his home.
The ‘Hello Mwari’ singer’s equipment was damaged by some rowdy youths.
Part of the equipment belonged to his new promoter, Elton “Edza B” Njeru, who is also known as RealNass.
The show was abruptly stopped at 11pm, shortly after Boss Pumacol had finished his act and Mad Viper was in the middle of a performance.
There was no explanation given to the hundreds of youths who had thronged the venue.
It also emerged that some of the artists, who had been billed to perform at the event, had other commitments elsewhere.
RealNass said:
“We wouldn’t allow you guys to release an article with wrong information. You get it wrong, then it’s libel.
“We have released a press statement so it has to be in that line.
