The house, the brothers, the poison

A MAN has sensationally claimed he scuttled plans by his brother for them to poison another brother to share their parents’ property.

The two brothers – Cuthbert and Conrad Fata – appeared at the Harare Civil Court this week.

Both their parents are late.

Conrad claims he rejected a plan hatched by Cuthbert to poison their other brother so that they would share their parents’ estate between themselves.

“He hates me because I refused to kill our brother so that we can share the house,” he said.

“We had an altercation and he threatened to cause my arrest and I’m now living in fear.

“I also need the same peace order.”

Cuthbert claims Conrad has been subjecting him to physical and emotional abuse.

He was granted a peace order by Magistrate Sharon Mashavira who ordered Conrad not to assault, insult or evict his brother from the house because they have equal shares.

“I moved to South Africa after our parents died to get some peace of mind and returned after 17 years.

“In December, Conrad beat me up and I sought refuge in the streets.

“People encouraged me to resolve our dispute and I returned home,” said Cuthbert.

He said last week his brother choked him while he was drunk.
