The Lord always provides

“NOW you see how Abraham’s faith and deeds worked together. He proved his faith was real by what he did.” — James 2:22

One of my favourite preachers once wrote: “Medical practitioners practise medicine. Legal practitioners practise law. This is what they do. You must be a Word practitioner. You must do what the Word says.”

The above scripture teaches us that Abraham got close to God by doing what He said.

It was Abraham, the father of faith, who called God “Jehovah Jireh, the Lord will provide”.

His story testifies to God’s unwavering faithfulness in providing for His people.

In the book of Genesis, we encounter Abraham, a man of great faith, who embarked on a journey of obedience and trust in God’s promises.

Despite facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, he continued to believe in the provision of the Lord.

His faith was tested when God commanded him to leave his homeland and go to a land that He would show him.

In obedience, Abraham set out on this journey, trusting in God’s provision every step of the way.

One of the most awe-inspiring moments in Abraham’s life was when God tested his faith by asking him to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac.

Remember, Isaac was born to an old woman, Sarah, who even laughed after hearing she would give birth.

Abraham took Isaac to the place of sacrifice fully trusting in God’s plan.

As they reached the designated place, Abraham declared: “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.”

Abraham’s faith in the provision of the Lord was unshakeable.

He believed God would provide, even in the midst of the most trying circumstances. As Abraham raised the knife to offer his son, an angel of the Lord intervened and he saw a ram caught in the thicket, which he offered as a sacrifice, instead of his son. In that moment, Jehovah Jireh revealed His faithfulness and provision in a miraculous way.

The story of Abraham’s provision from God teaches us that in our moments of obedience and unwavering faith, God reveals Himself as the one who meets our needs.

Jehovah Jireh provides not only for our material needs, but also for our spiritual and emotional well-being.

He meets us in our moments of sacrifice and obedience, and provides in ways that surpass our expectations.

As you reflect on Abraham’s journey, consider your own lives and areas where you need God’s provision.

Whether it is a financial need, a health concern, a broken relationship or a spiritual struggle, trust in the provision of Jehovah Jireh.

Declare with unwavering faith that God Himself will provide for your every need.

Like Abraham, anchor your faith in the promise of God’s provision.

Trust in His faithfulness, knowing that He is the same God who provided for Abraham in his time of need. Jehovah Jireh, the provider of faith, will meet us at the point of our needs and exceed our expectations.

We all know how successful Abraham became.

Use the Word and walk in unending success in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
