The mystery of spoken words

GREETINGS beloved nation.

Many believers have not understood the power and mystery of spoken words and often speak carelessly, without realising the impact that their words have on their lives and on the lives of others around them.

Spoken words are a mystery that many believers have not fully grasped because words possess power.

They can destroy or create. Words have the power and ability to help, heal, hinder, hurt, harm, humiliate and humble.

Unfortunately, many believers are unaware of the spiritual consequences of the words that come out of their mouths. There are dimensions of priesthood and kingship that God has given us as believers to rule here on earth.

The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 8:4 that, “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, what doest thou?” This means that, as kings, one of the keys to exercising our dominion and rulership here on earth is through the spoken word.

The Bible also tells us in Genesis 1:26 that God gave mankind dominion and rulership over all creation. Words are therefore important if we are to live lives of dominion and rulership because of the supernatural power they hold.

One thing we need to understand as believers is that this world we live in is the domain of spiritual forces, both for good and for evil and these forces react to our words. The demonic spiritual powers in Heavenly places also respond to our words.

People of the world have understood the power of spoken words and are able to speak demonic programming into people’s lives without you knowing. That is why you may hear of people waking at midnight, standing in certain strategic places, chanting and making all sorts of proclamations.

The words they utter programme the realm of the spirit and the atmosphere. Those words spoken into the realm of the spirit find expression in people’s lives, in communities and beyond.

That is why many people — both believers and non-believers struggle in life because of words that have been programmed into the realm of the spirit. I should also point out that it’s not just witches and wizards who speak negatively, we too — parents, believers, teachers, etc. speak many negative things concerning ourselves, our children, our students, our nation and our leaders, often without realising the power of those words.

Some parents say hurtful things and call their children horrible names, like “you are dull,” “you are useless,” and “you will never become anything,” and you will find that the child becomes exactly what was spoken. That’s the power of spoken words.

Hebrews 11:3 tells us that, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things, which are seen were not made of things, which do appear.”

God, in His infinite wisdom and power, could have created the world through other means, but He chose to use the spoken word —“Let there be”— and there was. Over and over in Genesis 1, we see the phrase, “And God said,” and whatever God said became a reality.

Everything that God spoke into existence has stood since that time. He spoke it once and never had to repeat those words again. That is a mystery of spoken words.

God demonstrated this template of creation by using words to create the earth. The Bible provides patterns for us to follow. One notable example of someone who understood the power of the spoken word is Elijah, in 1 Kings 17:1: “And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, ‘As the

LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.’”

Elijah spoke a word and declared that there would be no rain for three and a half years and it came to pass.

We also see in the gospels how Jesus ministered by speaking words. Jesus addressed diseases, demons and even nature. He spoke to the sick, to demons afflicting many people, to the fig tree and to the wind and they responded.

Jesus, by speaking, took direct authority over situations and conditions. The fact that these things responded to His spoken words means they have ears, can hear and respond. Demons have ears, sickness has ears, creation has ears and the wind has ears. As long as they have ears, they can hear and respond to your words.

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11:1, “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” This means we should pray and speak like Jesus. Isaiah 55:10-11 tells us: “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Every word that comes from God’s mouth has power and authority.

Similarly, when we make declarations or confessions, they are expressions of our faith. His word will not return empty but will accomplish everything He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it.

When you make a confession, it becomes a decree. As you confess it, you activate the spiritual realm.

Conversely, if you speak negative words, you activate the demonic spiritual realm, allowing demonic powers to follow you so that everything you say comes to pass.

On the other hand, declaring God’s promises activates the angelic realm, which will come to your aid so you can attain everything you desire. As kings, we must be very careful about what we say concerning ourselves, others, our situations and our nation because the Bible clearly states, “Where the word of a king is, there is power.”

Whatever negative things you proclaim shall be so and whatever positive things you declare shall also be so.

Remember, the words we utter are spoken into the realm of the spirit and they possess creative power.

I invite you to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that He is your Lord and Saviour.

You shall be saved. May God bless you all.
