The Old Mutual Roger Brackley race on

is run and managed by the Harare Athletics Club under the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe rules and regulations.

It will be their second race for this year after holding the Peter Gradwelll marathon early this year.
Participants will take part in the 42.2km marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km and 5km races.

HAC chairman, Marc Pozzo, said the field will be restricted to 350 athletes and prizes will be given to participants in the main event and the 21km race.

“The field will be restricted to 350 runners. It’s the second major marathon of the HAC calendar and we are proud to have Old Mutual as our major sponsor and partners, an association we hope we will build on over the next coming years.

“There will be prize money for the marathon in all categories and just the open event for the 21km. Total prize money on offer for all categories is US$10 600.

“There will be no prize money for the 5km and 10km races,” said Pozzo.
Pozzo said they are expecting some of the top athletes such as Jonathan Chinyoka and Gilbert Mutandiro and some of the runners will be using the race to prepare for the Two Oceans ultra marathon to be held later this month in South Africa.

“We are expecting a top field, with the likes of Peter Gradwell marathon winner Jonathan Chinyoka, Gilbert Mutandiro and HAC runner Moses Njodzi who is preparing for the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra marathon in Cape Town over the Easter weekend.

Also, expected in the ladies event will be the Chokore sisters Lizzie and Chiedza who are both having great seasons.
“Preparations for the event have gone according to plan and all is set for the big day,” said Pozzo.
