ZIM-DANCEHALL prodigy Wallace Chirimuko, popularly known as Winky-D or the BigMan, has released a compilation album officially launched on Tuesday.
Winky-D’s manager, Jonathan Banda, said the compilation album was meant to stamp the dancehall prodigy’s authority in the game.
Titled ‘Mudhara vauya’, the singles compilation album that has five songs which are already making waves on the local airwaves and in the club scene, consists of Mudhara vauya, Machikichori, Independent lady ft Chenai, Chiramu and I cry.
Banda said the Musarova Bigman hit-maker was still in the game and only time would tell.
“People always talk, but time is there to tell. In the music industry personal vendettas and ‘beef’ (rivalries) will always be there, but the best music stands out on its own at the end of day and time will tell,” said Banda.
He said Winky-D like international dancehall artistes such as Shaggy and Beenie Man was now at a stage where he was cross-cutting experimenting with his sound.
“In tracks like I cry and Independent lady, Winky-D drifted from hard core dancehall showing his versatility.
“Popular urban grooves producer, Russo produced the track, Independent lady and it has been receiving many hits on Youtube.
“Winky-D is now in a different league and I do not want to brag, so I will just say time will tell,” said the award winning 2015 Zim-Dancehall Awards manager of the year.
In May, Winky-D produced a video on High Definition for the tracks Chiramu and I cry currently being screened on Channel O.
Despite a lot of criticism in the dancehall arena, comparing the multi-award dancehall artiste to rising big names like Soul Jah Luv, Shinsoman, Tocky Vibes and Seh Calez to mention a few, Winky D seems to have stood the test of time having risen to fame in 2007.
At the second edition of the 2015 Zim-Dancehall Awards early this year, Winky D stole the show again after walking away with three gongs, although the new-players in the industry Tocky Vibes and Seh Calaz also rose to the occasion and bagged three awards.
At the previous year’s inaugural awards the Ninja president as he is fondly known bagged four accolades, best male artiste, best social message award for his song Mafirakureva, best performer and best video and choreography awards.
