Poland has opened its arms to welcome a rising star — a singer and songwriter hailing from Zimbabwe by the name Natasha Tinashe Angela Zembe who is well-known to the world by her stage name, Ashta Eez.

Ashta Eez’s artistic prowess doesn’t stop at music. She possesses a deep passion for dance, a passion that has propelled her name into the limelight of the entertainment industry. It comes as no surprise that she also holds a professional role as a dance and Zumba instructor, sharing her infectious love for movement with others.

Ashta Eez’s journey began in Bulawayo, where she first drew breath. Her childhood found its rhythm in Harare before her path led her on a captivating journey through Botswana, South Africa, and finally, Poland – the place she now calls home.

In an exclusive interview with Chronicle Showbiz, Ashta Eez shared insights into her remarkable journey.

“I joined the music industry professionally in 2018 and my music releases include the Diverse album which l dropped in 2020 followed by singles Ndii-li (2020), One (2020), Andizi featuring DJ Chillaz (2020), Ayeye featuring Allanah (2021), Asambeni (2021), Loku (2021), Yoh 2022 and my latest which I released last month, Mjolo.

“I have done visuals for the tracks Loku, Ayeye featuring Allanah, Asambeni, and XheXhe with John Cole, Jive in the ghetto, Kure Kure and That money,” said Ashta Eez.

She said she has performed on local, regional and international stages.

“I have managed to perform as KTV kids dance competition in Botswana, at several Zimbabwe Hip hop shows in Harare and once opened for Omah Lay a Nigerian artiste at Boy Alone World Tour in Poland. I have shared the stage with Zimdancehall artiste Freeman in Gweru, performed at Ammara Brown (Zimbabwe) and Mr Eazy (Nigeria) concert alongside John Cole Nation (Zimbabwe) in Harare, opened for Uncle Waffles (South Africa) at Zim Link Up in Poland and also opened for Musa Keys (South Africa) alongside Mabs at Zim Link Up in Poland.

“My dance features include on Ammara Brown’s Akiliz music video, Mudiwa Hood’s Take me higher music video, Mellow Creme’s Sky high visuals and notable features was working with John Cole,” she said.

Turning to her latest single, Ashta Eez said the track Mmola is based on a true story.

“It’s about what basically happens in our communities worldwide. It’s about people trying to find love or having to date their partners and yet finding out that their partners are cheating. Only a few are lucky to stay loyal to each other.

“The song talks about an independent girl who’s working hard for herself and got pressure from the society that she needed to be in a relationship in order for her to be happy. So she goes on a date and meets up with a man who’s polished, polite, has a good status and looks good, (what most girls want). She falls deeply in love and she even buys him gifts and lends him money whenever he asks.

He pretends and lies that he would give her back, basically he romantically scams her. And she finds out that this guy is a “yahoo boy,” a corn artist from dating site,” said Ashta Eez. She said her next project is shooting a music video for Mjolo with Bartek Szaruga (Polish).

“The world has turned to be digitalised and l will push to ensure my works reaches different African channels including ZBC TV, Channel O and Trace TV among others. I also have more planned projects that I want to work on like the song Shake produced by Reverb7 which will be my next release. I’m still working on it with some local producers from Harare and Bulawayo.

I’m also working on ideas with Dr Chaii from USA. I also have another song I’m working on with UK based producer Shellings. I want to collaborate with many local talents and more artistes and also to perform in more shows,” said Ashta Eez. — @mthabisi_mthire
