A 27-YEAR-OLD man was robbed of US$3 200 by a foreign currency dealer in the Central Business District.
The 27-year-old man, who had travelled from Rusape, was lured into a car where he was robbed.
“Police in Harare are investigating a robbery case, which occurred at corner Samora Machel Avenue and Sixth Street, in which a man (27) lost US$3 200 cash to an unknown forex dealer, who he met in a WhatsApp group,” national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said.
“The complainant had travelled from Rusape and was lured into a silver Honda Fit vehicle before the suspect produced an unidentified pistol and stole the money.”
Meanwhile, police are also investigating a case of robbery in which a Harare man lost US$3 360 cash, and a cellphone, to four suspects.
They had offered him a lift in a Toyota Wish vehicle from Westgate to Harare CBD.
Ass Comm Nyathi said the suspects diverted their route and headed towards Mazowe.
He appealed to anyone with information to contact any nearest police station.
