Thieves rat riot in Mhangura recently stealing over 30 sewer manhole lids leaving people exposed to diseases.
The thefts occurred last week in the low-density suburbs. A report was then made to the police by local officials from Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA).

ZINWA runs sewer and water reticulation system in the defunct former mining settlement. The authority’s spokesperson, Mrs Marjorie Munyonga was this morning still to give comment on what was going to be done to address the issue and avoid future occurrences.

Makonde Rural District Council chief executive officer, Mr Paradzayi Munyede said there have been a spate of theft and robberies in the town.

“We are concerned that these occurrences may end up chasing away investors. Apart from the manhole lids incident, there have been several armed robbery cases that were witnessed,” he said.
