They also broke into the school administration block where they took away an empty cash box. The thieves gained entry into the laboratory after breaking the door with some bolt cutters, which they left at the scene.
Police officer commanding Beitbridge, Chief Superintendent Lawrence Chinhengo said intensive investigations into the crime were in progress.
He said no arrests had been made so far and appealed to anyone with information to contact the police. Chief Supt Chinhengo said the burglary was discovered on the following morning.
“We believe there is a syndicate involved in these criminal acts,” he said.
Of late there has been an increase in cases of armed robbery and burglaries in the border town. Last week four armed men broke into the Roman Catholic church and took away two laptops and US$2 000 cash from the priest in charge on Beitbridge district, Father Jules Greber.
The suspects are still at large.
