COPPER thieves recently vandalised a 315kva transformer and armoured cables at Green Valley Irrigation Scheme in Mhangura constituency negatively impacting on farming activities.

Nothing has been recovered yet.

The incident occurred a few weeks after a Mhangura-based police officer and his accomplices were nabbed for vandalising a power supply transformer in Gudubu Village in the same constituency.

Green Valley Irrigation Scheme, made up of land reform beneficiaries in the area, has significantly contributed to the country’s wheat, soyabean and maize production.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Elizabeth Mubaiwa-Mutami said the vandalism act had plunged the community and a local clinic into darkness.

Water supply at Green Valley Clinic has also been affected threatening health service delivery.
