as equipment in that accident.
And if you ask the soft-spoken Matsito’s one wish he would probably tell you that he wants to get his career up again.
His new album has hardly been felt on the charts while his injured leg does not allow him more than three hours on stage and it is about time music fans and promoters spare a thought for the once great composer who hogged the limelight with the hit “Gede Mwana”
For a man who solely depends on live shows for his livelihood being out of the stage has been a big blow to his family.
Matsito enjoyed his busy schedules and is pleading to have his hyperactive life back but unless he gets an artificial leg that will remain a pipe dream.
At the moment Matsito is using a crutch when walking but he takes his time as the singer is still in pain. There have been reports that when he performs he gets about US$500 or less depending on the show which means he is not earning enough to pay his band and save some to buy an artificial limb..
Although the actual price of the artificial limb varies depending on the type, for instance a flexible one — which is what he needs — would cost him anything between US$700 and US$800.
This excludes other expenses such as admission fees, theatre fees for his operation and other specialised treatment like physiotherapy.
He desperately needs to go for an operation since his leg developed gangrene, a condition that comes when a body part loses its blood supply, resulting in the death of tissue.
Despite all this, Matsito has not lost hope of bouncing back and a number of well-wishers including music promoter Partson Chimbodza is planning on staging a benefit show to ensure that Matsito gets an artificial leg just like the late Cephas Mashakada.
