THE third International Tennis Federation 18-and-Under tournament that was scheduled to run from August 9 to 14 in Harare has postponed.

This comes after the other two tournaments that were set for July 26 to July 31 and August 2 to August 7 had already been moved due to the suspension of sport in the country.

The tournaments are held annually for three consecutive weeks.

Tennis Zimbabwe had hoped they could go ahead with the third event but it has also been postponed.

TZ manager Cliff Nhokwara confirmed the development and said this comes as the country is still to allow the return of sport.

“It’s been postponed till maybe end of September, October thereabout. Hopefully after Government instruction on schools, I would like to think that it will also hopefully result in us reopening tennis.

“So hopefully thereafter we should be able to host events,” said Nhokwara.

Two events were held in Bulawayo between May and June, and focus was now on the events expected in Harare.
