FOOTBALL fans have called for restraint, unity and sportsmanship when Highlanders host Dynamos in a Centenary Exhibition match at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The match is part of the Highlanders Football Club 100th anniversary celebrations that will run until the end of the year.

Pardon Baloyi, a DeMbare fan said he travelled all the way from Harare to be part of the celebrations.

“Football rivalry will always be part of the game but today we are celebrating that our brothers and sisters (Bosso supporters) are celebrating a century of existence. No to violence,” said Baloyi.

Mcdonald Chinoda travelled from Chimanimani to watch his team. He is, however, not lost to the significance of the game to the Highlanders family.

“There can never be a Dynamos without Highlanders so we are here to celebrate with our friends in Bulawayo,” said Chinoda.

At the shops next to Barbourfields Stadium where fans are eating and enjoying drinks before the match, the message is simple: No to violence.

Mthulisi Sibanda urged restraint, nomatter the outcome.

“Today we are here to celebrate. We really want to win this match but we will not tolerate violence in the event we lose,” said Sibanda.
