GERMANY-BASED rap sensation, Awa Khiwe, feels honoured to be appreciated in her hometown of Nkayi.
Awa was awarded a certificate of appreciation for her power as an influencer on Saturday.
She said the award will serve as an inspiration to the youths, who probably think they cannot pursue their dreams, because of their poor background.
“There is something about this particular award that brings tears to my eyes,” she said.
“I guess it’s because I am from Nkayi, from Dakamela and I never imagined being appreciated in my own village.
“No love is greater than the love you get at home.
“This means the world to me.”
She added:
“This is not just an award but it’s an inspiration to other village girls and boys, everyone who thinks their dreams are not achievable because of their background, environment and lack of funds or support.
“Our dreams are valid and l am so happy that we have traditional leaders who recognise and honour that.
“I have been looking for better words to express my gratitude but words have failed me.
“Thank you so much to Chief Dakamela for awarding me this certificate of appreciation for being an influential rapper from Nkayi.
“I just want to appreciate our Chief Dakamela and Chief Ndiweni Tshugulu, who have also supported me since day one. Ngiyabonga kakhulu Bahlonitshwa,” she said.
