THEY say a picture says a thousand words.
The one captured by our reporter, Mathew Masinge, at the High Court yesterday, is one such photograph.
His lenses captured the moment prophet Walter Magaya extended his hand to greet outgoing ZIFA boss Lincoln Mutasa.
Both men, wearing suits, were clearly in a business mood.
They both were carrying documents in their left hands.
A Zimbabwean flag, flying in the background, provided a reminder that this was serious business.
The only problem was the setting.
It was outside the High Court in Harare and the two men had come as opponents, rather than partners, in the latest chapter of the politics of our national sport.
Magaya approached the High Court in the latest battle to try and overturn the ZIFA decision to have him barred from contesting for the association’s presidency.
He wants the ZIFA elections, set for January 25, to be postponed.
Mutasa, as the leader of the ZIFA Electoral Committee, was representing the association.
For those who are backing Magaya to be the next ZIFA boss, the warm handshake he shared with Mutasa yesterday would have been a perfect picture of a hand-over-take-over photo of the leadership baton at the country’s football controlling body.
Unfortunately, for them, this was just a photo of two men coming from a court case in which they are opposing each other.
Hopefully, when the case is concluded, whichever way it goes, the two men will still find time to shake hands and open a new chapter.
After all, as they say, football is a beautiful game.
