Speaking to journalists after meeting with President Mugabe Ambassador Aminnejad: “I am happy to be in Zimbabwe. We are a confident partner of Zimbabwe in the field of bi-lateral relations and we would like to participate in the development of your beautiful country. I am coming here to assure you that I will act in this direction with the support and help of the authorities.”
Ambassador Aminnejad castigated illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe and Iran.
He said Tehran had defied the sanctions and the country was making notable progress despite the crippling sanctions.
“In actual international relations, sanctions are being used as a metal instrument to counter the will of independent countries and independent people.
“We are facing the embargo and maybe somehow being affected but we are developing and strengthening and we have decided to continue our way which is the will of dignity and independence,” he said.
Ambassador Aminnejad said Iran would continue with its peaceful nuclear enrichment programme despite of Western sanctions. He said Iran was proud that it was undertaking nuclear enrichment using home grown technologies.
“We are even ready to transfer this technology to other friendly and brotherly countries.” he said.
Ambassador Aminnejad is a career diplomat who has served as a diplomat in Niger, Ivory Coast and was non-resident ambassador to Gabon and Liberia between 2006 and 2009. Incoming Mexican Ambassador Hector Valezzi said he wanted to share the Mexican experience particularly in the field of water management.
“I think in the next weeks the Zimbabwean Government is going to be invited to share the Mexican experience in water management, that is, how to take advantage of water as a scarce resource,” he said.
Ambassador Valezzi said Harare and the City of Mexico were now closer and it was important to open a new chapter in improving bilateral relations.
President Mugabe also received credentials from the ambassador of Equatorial Guinea Francisco Edu Ngua Mangwe. Ambassador Mangwe told journalists through a translator after meeting President Mugabe that Harare and Malabo already enjoyed cordial relations.
“My presence here is to strengthen the good relations of cooperation between the two countries which are already there,” he said.
“Areas that we want to co-operate in are agriculture, human resources and security,” he said.
