Three Grain Marketing Board employees have been arrested on allegations of stealing 9 500kg fertilisers worth US$7 000 meant for the Presidential Input Pfumvudza Scheme in Hwange.
The three will appear in court soon.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of three Grain Marketing Board (GMB) employees, Philani Ndlovu (47), Calvin Kuedzisa (22), and Tafara Kudengeya in connection with a case of theft of 190 by 50kg fertilisers meant for the Presidential Input (Pfumvudza) Scheme which occurred on January 26, 2023, in Hwange.
“The total value stolen is USD7 000 and USD6 631.60 was recovered,” he said.
Meanwhile, the ZRP is also investigating an armed robbery case that occurred during the early hours of January 26 at a shop along Coventry Road, Harare where seven suspects who were armed with an unidentified pistol, a machete, and a hammer pounced on three security guards who were manning the premise before stealing US$45 000 cash and a DVR camera.
