ZIMBABWE international defender Tendayi Darikwa clocked 350 career appearances in English football but his club, Wigan Athletic, sank to the bottom of the English Championship on Tuesday night.
The Latics, where Darikwa is the captain, were beaten 0-1 by West Bromwich Albion who should have won comfortably had they not wasted some golden chances.
Wigan now lie bottom of the table with 32 points from 35 matches in which they have only won seven times, drawn 11 and lost 17.
As if things couldn’t get any worse, their next assignment is against leaders and championship favourites Derby County.
“Congratulations Skip, a massive achievement,” said Wigan, before the game, as the club celebrated Darikwa’s milestone.
However, it appears this could be a campaign which could be remembered, for all the wrong reasons, for everyone associated with the Latics.
Darikwa marked 100 appearances for Wigan in January this year.
While the Latics appear set for the drop, Darikwa could swap leagues with fellow Zimbabwean international, Brendan Galloway, whose Plymouth Argyle took another giant step forward with a 2-1 win over Derby County on Tuesday.
The Pilgrims are now tied on points at the top of League One with Sheffield Wednesday, who have two games in hand.
Galloway was one of the players who made way from the team which started in the 2-0 home win over Charlton on Saturday.
